For those of you who don’t know my life story (probably most of you lol), I was born in Murray, Utah and for the first five years of my life we stayed there until my dad landed a job with Ford in Michigan.
While we were in Michigan (ironically, away from the giant mountains that we had left) I learned to snowboard. There was a man-made “mountain” near my house called Alpine Valley Ski Resort where my parents signed me up (because this was also a time before learning from YouTube was a thing). It was just a basic set of classes but it absolutely improved my confidence in trying new things while on board. ❄️
Every couple of years since then I was able to go out and “shred the gnar” until about 5 years ago when I went for the last time with a couple of friend as a “last hurrah” before I was to leave as a volunteer missionary to Chile for two years. 👔
Since I got back from Chile (over three years ago! wow time flies), I had the desire to go again but there was always something more pressing to do or the money didn’t line up with my desire to go.
Thankfully, my dad stepped in this year and offered to go with my siblings and I!
Disclaimer: my dad, sister, and brother-in-law all ski instead of snowboard. So I took off with Ethan to figure out how to snowboard again and we had an absolute blast! I can’t believe how much I missed it! Also, I am not professional and I don’t spend very much time in the terrain park. I just like carving up a freshly groomed mountain 🏂.
Since this season is basically over, I am now taking applications for a mountain buddy for next season (hopefully we will get more snow next year too)! 🏔
Anyway, thanks for joining me today and shout out to my cousin Rachel and her new husband Tanner on a beautiful wedding this last week! Love you guys,
-Mitch
